The Hand
of Destiny - Book 1: The Appointed

An evil ruling tyrant, in a world few people know exist,
needs only one thing to make his ruthless power complete a deadly
weapon capable of controlling or killing its victims and threatening an
entire civilization. Legends tell of a saviour who will return one day
to challenge the tyrant and save the impoverished and enslaved people.
Another world away, Fiona Armstrong, set to become a champion swimmer,
has no idea of the extraordinary events awaiting her when she meets the
mysterious new lifeguard Christophe, a warrior in search of
the saviour and one who is determined to succeed in his mission at all
costs.
Before long, her destiny becomes frighteningly apparent and her life is
altered beyond all recognition.
Is Fiona really the saviour that Christophe believes her to be? Is this
a case of mistaken identity or is she indeed The Appointed?
Gripping and fast moving a cleverly plotted swashbuckling tale,
full of magic and unexpected twists right to the end.
Author Profile:
I've had a love of books for as long as I can remember. My parents gave
me books as soon as I was able to hold them. Some of my most treasured
memories are of going to the library with my mum to choose books, or else
lying cosy and warm in bed while she or my dad read to me and I begged
them for just one more chapter.
From reading stories, it seemed a natural progression to begin writing
them. I chose fantasy fiction because it relies almost entirely on the
author's imagination, and literally anything can be made to sound believeable.
My characters always come before my plot. In the case of The Appointed,
the character of Christophe sprang fully formed in to my mind, complete
with his bow and quiver of arrows and his unwavouring determination.
The character of Fiona took a little more thought, as I wanted a heroine
who was easy to relate to, but was not obsessed with her appearance and
did not believe that make-up was the best way to get boys to notice her.
I particularly enjoyed developing the relationship between Fiona and Christophe,
which is fraught to say the least. It made both characters seem more human
somehow. I can only hope that people will enjoy reading my stories as
much as I enjoy writing them.
